“I’m fine, everything is perfect. The halo saved me today,” Guanyu said after receiving medical attention at the hospital.

The Chinese Formula 1 driver Zhou Guanyu was involved in a spectacular accident this Sunday in the first corner of the first lap of the British Grand Prix. The 23-year-old Alfa Romeo racer was hit by the British Mercedes team driver George Russell after a collision between several vehicles.

Guanyu’s racing car was shot out of the track upside down, it flipped and was wedged against the metal fence that delimits the circuit. The Asian was taken consciously to a medical center. His team later confirmed that he had not suffered serious injuries.

“I’m fine, everything is perfect. The halo [safety part of the cockpit of Formula 1 cars] has saved today,” Guanyu said after receiving medical attention at the hospital.
