In New York, a man set fire to the facilities of an Asian food restaurant in the metropolitan district of Queens, in a fit of rage after receiving an order that was not his, reported the New York Post.

The incident took place in the early hours of October 2 at the entrance of the ‘Ittadi Garden And Grill’, in the Jackson Heights neighborhood, where Choephel Norbu arrived with a bucket of gasoline , sprayed the facade and set it on fire.

The man quickly fled the scene with his shoes on fire. His vandalism did not leave any injuries, but he caused damage to the Bangladeshi restaurant for more than 1. 500 dollars. The authorities began the search for the suspect, which lasted for almost two weeks.

Finally, the New York Fire Department (FDNY) announced on Monday the arrest of Norbu, on 14 October. The offender, aged 49 was charged with charges of arson, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. According to the criminal complaint in the case, Norbu assured that on the day of the events he was “very drunk” and “angry” because they did not give him the chicken ‘biryani’ that he had requested the night before.

Despite the seriousness of the events and the overwhelming evidence, Choephel Norbu was released one day after charges were filed, police sources detailed. A Queens judge granted him supervised release because he had no criminal record and the charges against him are not eligible for bail, according to recent New York state justice reform. The accused must return to court in December.
