The affair allegedly led to the divorce of Sergey Brin and Nicole Shanahan in January this year.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk would have had a “brief fling” with Nicole Shanahan, the wife of his friend and Google co-founder, Sergey Brin, reported to The Wall Street Journal.
The romance, which would have occurred in the fall of 2021, allegedly caused the divorce of Brin and Shanahan in January of this year. Both alleged “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the breakup.
However, the separation documents were presented just a few weeks after Brin found out what had happened and after which he urged his financial advisers to sell all their investments in Musk’s companies, the US media reported.
The sources said that the tycoon visited his friend for years at his home in Silicon Valley in California (USA), with a long friendship that transcended beyond business. In fact, Brin invested about $500,000 in Tesla, at a time when the electric vehicle company was trying to increase its production. However, they pointed out that tensions between the two have increased in recent months before the Google co-founder made the decision to sell his investments in Musk’s companies.
On the other hand, according to the same sources, the couple was going through a marital crisis derived from the stressors related to the pandemic of the coronavirus and the care of her three year old daughter. They also detailed that Musk tried to approach his friend and that he even knelt down to apologize.
