This year’s World Cup is the first to be held in an Arab country and will feature strict controls on alcoholic beverages.

This year’s World Cup is the first to be held in an Arab country and will feature strict controls on alcohol. This presents serious challenges for the organizers of the event, traditionally associated with beer fans and sponsored by global beer brands.

Since 2010, when Qatar won the rights to host the championship, there was great uncertainty about the rules that would be imposed regarding alcohol, since that its consumption in public places is illegal.

Doubts are beginning to clear up, since, according to a document As of June 2 reviewed by Reuters, fans will be able to purchase beer during restricted hours in certain parts of Doha, the capital of Qatar, such as Al Bidda Park.

Alcohol will also be available in a disused area of the Doha Golf Club, a few kilometers from the stadiums. In addition, a sandy area surrounded by a three-meter wall will be transformed into a venue with a capacity for 10,000 people who can enjoy techno music and alcohol.

Currently, visitors are prohibited from bringing alcohol into Qatar, and they cannot buy it at the only liquor store in the country, located on the outskirts of Doha, where they are sold to foreign residents with permits.

However, there are some authorized hotels and clubs where tourists can buy beer and other alcoholic beverages at high prices.
