Details about the submersibles were announced during a commemoration event by the 326.th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Navy.

The diesel-electric submarine Ufá (of the project 636.3, Varshavianka class) has successfully passed all tests and will be incorporated into the Russian Navy in November, its commander-in-chief, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, said on Sunday.

The submersible was under construction since November 2019 and was launched in March this year at the Admiralty Shipyards, in the city of Saint Petersburg. It is the tenth in its series, whose units are distributed between the Black Sea and Pacific Ocean Fleets.

On the occasion of the 120.th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Navy, Yevmenov also announced that the fourth-generation strategic nuclear submarine Generalíssimus Suvorov is undergoing testing. It is the third unit of the Borei-A class, which was launched last January and bears the name of the most important Russian military leader of the late 18th century.

This last submersible, built in the shipyards of the Sevmash plant, in the Russian city of Severodvinsk is a carrier of Bulava missiles and torpedoes that can be armed with nuclear warheads. The model has nuclear reactors where the movement is carried out by means of a water jet propulsion system.

The construction of the Gueralíssimus Suvórov had begun at the end of 1960.
