Switzerland claims the record for the longest passenger train in the world (VIDEO)


The train has a total length of almost two kilometers and its route is part of the Albula-Bernina railway line.

A Swiss passenger train of 1.659 meters in length has been officially confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records as the longest in the world, according to a statement from Rhaetian Railway, the largest private railway operator in Switzerland . The previous world record was established in 2022, with a train of 1.175,9 meters.

The entire train journey lasts one hour and covers about 25 kilometers, from the Albula tunnel in Preda to the world famous Landwasser viaduct . The route is part of the the Albula-Bernina railway line, in southeastern Switzerland, which runs through a total of 130 kilometers, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is considered one of the most spectacular routes of the world.

Rhaetian Railway director Renato Fasciati said the aim of the record was to highlight Swiss engineering achievements and celebrate the 130 years of Swiss railways.
