Mexico, on alert for the possible arrival of a new hurricane

An area of ​​low pressure located to the southwest of the Mexican coast is expected to become a tropical storm, to which the name Roslyn would be assigned.

An area of ​​low pressure to the southwest of the coast of Mexico could intensify into a tropical depression this Thursday, causing clouds and intermittent rains in the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero, while on Friday it could become a hurricane, threatening to affect western states.

According to a new statement from the National Weather Service, published this Wednesday, at 16: 00 (local time) the center of the low pressure was about 200 kilometers south-southwest of the city of Acapulco, in Guerrero, with west-northwest displacement.

“As a tropical depression, the system will continue to move off the coasts of Guerrero and Michoacán, where it could reach the category of tropical storm, which would be assigned the name of Roslyn, with winds from 64 to 118 km/h”, reads the statement.

The Civil Protection Subsection of the Secretariat de Marina warns that during the next 3 days waves of about 2 to almost 5 meters high are forecast along the southwest coast. Thus, the maritime community is advised to follow the indications and recommendations of local authorities to avoid situations that could endanger lives in the sea, waterways, coasts and beaches.
