Medellín achieves the Guinness record with the largest software class in the world
The Colombian city of Medellín, capital of the department of Antioquia, in the northwest of the country, achieved a Guinness record with the largest software class in the world.
The milestone was achieved by bringing together 3 at the Plaza Mayor Convention Center in the city.119 students from official institutions, with their “Future Computers”, which are delivered by the Medellín Mayor’s Office.
Although they were less than 5.000 students who aspired to meet the local authorities, the Guinness representatives recognized the record, which widely exceeds the one previously established in India, in September 2019, with 900 class attendees.
“What happens to a city that bets on the future: each boy and each girl a computer, software valley centers in each commune, free higher education”, celebrated the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero.
The feat was achieved during the first edition of the Medellín Valley Software Festival, which started on Tuesday and will run until next Sunday.
The Guinness was also obtained a day after the Medellin Mayor’s Office handed it over, in a massive act at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium, more of 20.000 Future Computers to seventh and eighth grade students of the 460 official educational institutions attached to the dist administration ritual.
