The Ukrainian ambassador to the Jewish country, Evgen Korniichuk, accuses Tel Aviv of not paying adequate attention to the armed conflict on the territory of the Slavic country.
Ukraine intends to buy to Israel the so-called Iron Dome, a mobile air defense system developed by the state-owned company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing Ukrainian ambassador Evgen Korniichuk. The senior diplomat also pointed out that kyiv does not need the weapon to be “donated” , but he proposes to pay for it.
“I want the Israeli government to come out of its comfort zone and come back to reality,” Korniichuk said, stressing his frustration that Israel has not provided Ukraine with military assistance defense or ongoing medical support. “ We need Israeli help, […] military-technical support; we need the Iron Dome, […] that will allow us to save our women and children”, urged the ambassador.
“Ukraine has been eliminated of the Israeli press almost completely,” the official said, accusing Tel Aviv of not paying adequate attention to the armed conflict on Ukrainian territory.
Korniichuk also clarified that his country intends to pay for the air defense system, and not receive it as military aid. “We don’t need a donation, we want to buy it,” said the ambassador.
However, sources say that it is unlikely that Israel will sell the Iron Dome to the Ukraine or any other country, due to the regulations signed with the United States regarding which refers to defense exports, and the international obligations to control the market of the Jewish country in this area.
