Kanye West to buy conservative social network Parler

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered controversial, we must ensure that we have the right to express ourselves freely,” said the rapper.

The American rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will buy Parler, the social network popular among conservative American circles, after Twitter temporarily blocked the musician’s account for comments considered anti-Semitic.

In a statement shared on Monday, the parent company of the social network, Parlement Technologies, stated that it had reached an agreement to sell the platform to West. Likewise, the text indicates that the acquisition will guarantee that Parler continues to be an “uncancelable ecosystem” that welcomes all voices.

“In a world where conservative views are considered controversial, we must ensure that we have the right to freely express ourselves,” Ye said.

“This deal will change the world and change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is making a groundbreaking move in the free speech media space and never again will you have to fear being removed from social media,” Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer said.

The financial details of the agreement, such as the amount the rapper will pay for the social network, were not disclosed.

Kanye’s account blocked

The Twitter platform confirmed the blocking of West’s account after he published a message considered anti-Semitic on October 8 in which he threatened “the Jews.” A similar situation caused him to have his Instagram profile (owned by Meta, an organization classified in Russia as extremist) restricted that same day.

The penalty occurred after a message, now deleted, in which the musician appeared to claim that rapper and record producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is controlled by “the Jewish people”.
