At least eight people died and 15 were injured after the Insein prison in Yangon, the country’s largest city, suffered two explosions and a shooting on Wednesday morning, media reports locals.
Two bombs hidden inside packages exploded near the main entrance of the prison. Security forces found another homemade mine after the attack, according to state media. After the explosions, shots were fired. A paramilitary group fighting against the government assumed responsibility for the attack.
