Bloody clashes broke out this Thursday between the Police and demonstrators during a protest in Chad, reports AFP. “There were some 30 dead, a dozen of whom among the security forces, and several wounded,” said government spokesman Aziz Mahamat Saleh. “A prohibited demonstration turned into an insurrection”, he stated.
The clashes took place when hundreds of people took to the streets of the capital, N’Djamena, to protest against the junta military that governs the African country. This October 20 was the date on which the uniformed men had promised to return power. However, this period was extended for two more years.
