72 civilian sailors return to Russia after prisoner swap with Ukraine

As a result of the negotiation process, 110 Russian citizens, including 72 sailors of civilian ships, have been returned from the territory controlled by kyiv.

72 Civilian sailors returned to Russia after the prisoner exchange with Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday.

“On 17 October, as a result of the negotiation process, 110 Russian citizens were returned from the territory controlled by the kyiv regime, including 72 Russian sailors from civilian ships held by the kyiv regime since February of 2022”, highlighted the agency.

Likewise, 108 military women of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were transferred to the Ukrainian side. The Russian Defense Ministry noted that two women voluntarily refused to return to Ukraine.

As explained by the agency, all released Russian citizens will be handed over to Moscow by aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and will receive the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

Previously, the leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denís Pushilin, had anticipated that a a prisoner exchange with Ukraine, in 110-110 format. “We will hand over to kyiv, mostly women,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
