200 soldiers of the Mexican Special Forces are deployed in Tamaulipas to reinforce security


They were sent to the city of Nuevo Laredo to, among other tasks, “collaborate with the National Guard in arresting members of organized crime.”

Members of the Special Forces of the Secretariat of National Defense of Mexico (Sedena) were deployed last Saturday in the city of Nuevo Laredo, in the state of Tamaulipas, to reinforce security in the region, according to local media .

According to reports, it is about 200 effective .

“The main mission of these units is to carry out planning and intelligence work that strengthens the rule of law in the entity and carry out ground and dissuasive reconnaissance in the border strip of the state of Tamaulipas; in the same way, collaborate with the National Guard in the arrest of members of organized crime, acting at all times with full respect for human rights”, reads the Sedena statement, quoted by the media.

In this context, El Sol de Tampico points out that the troops join other 620 soldiers who were sent to the bases located in Tampico and Ciudad Victoria between October 4 and 5.

The deployment takes place after Mario Cedillo Infante, mayor of the municipality of Guerrero (state de Coahuila) was kidnapped last Friday in Nuevo Laredo while traveling with eight people, including several relatives. The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection reported that the official was released on Saturday in the limits of Tamaulipas and Coahuila.
